Step 1 – Aged Care Information and Fact Find Meeting

We want to provide you with the information you need to make the right choices for you. Our Aged Care Information and Fact Find Meeting will help:

✓  Understand what is important to the person requiring care and understand the concerns of family members

✓ Help you to understand the aged care landscape and Centerlink/DVA rules

✓ Provide a general overview of fees and the assessment process – ‘Aged Care 101’

✓  Explain what to expect on the aged care journey and explain to you some of the challenges and complexities you may experience

✓  Explain how we can help you to achieve what's important to you

With your assistance and input, together with your information, we can prepare a Cash Flow Report – Day One, which will cover your:

✓ Current financial situation

✓ Expected Aged Care fees and Age Pension entitlements on Day One with no changes, which is based on your information as it is at that time

Step 2 - Support with Services Australia & Centrelink / DVA & Aged Care Provider

By helping you with Services Australia, we can maximise government aged care subsidies, and by helping you with Centerlink / DVA we can maximise social security support.

Dealing with Centerlink/DVA can be time-consuming and confusing. It's made easier if you understand their rules and regulations…or if you have someone who does, like us. As we will have collected a good deal of information for the Aged Care Information and Fact Find Meeting, we will help you with Services Australia and Centerlink or the DVA by assisting you to complete Aged Care - your cost of care form/s and assist you in obtaining your Means Test Assessment. We will be your Correspondence Nominee with Services Australia to arrange your initial Means Test Assessment. Then you can decide if you want us to continue, as per Step 2A below.

and/or Step 2A Ongoing Aged Care Services 

✓ Act as Correspondence Nominee for Services Australia (Aged Care Fees) and Centerlink / DVA (Age and Service Pensions) for 12 months

✓ Assist you in updating assets and income for the Services Australia Residential Aged Care / Centerlink Record

✓ Review your Services Australia reassessments - are you paying the correct fees (maximising your government subsidy)? Is your Social Security support (Centrelink Age Pension / DVA Pension) correct?

✓ Review Aged Care facility invoices and support you in your dealings with the Care Provider.

Step 3 - Aged Care Advice / Strategic Options

After the Aged Care Information and Fact Find Meeting, most clients prefer to authorise us to prepare a written Aged Care Statement of Advice or Aged Care Strategic Options Report that provides you with :

✓ Summary of your current situation, and goals and objectives

✓ Explanation of your aged care fees and how they will change over time

✓ Social Security support you will receive – Age Pensions/ Service Pensions, and how they will change over time

✓ Your aged care options - up to five options for restructuring your assets and meeting your obligations – including an evaluation of implications for retaining your home and renting it (or not renting it), as well as selling your home on the Aged Care Fees and Age Pension

✓ Tax and estate implications of each option

✓  Cash flow and asset projections to show you the outcome of each option over each of the next five or ten years

✓A timeline of the decisions you need to make

These reports allow you to consider the most important financial aspects of the Aged Care Plan and make fully informed decisions. The key elements are cash flow planning, the protection of wealth and estate planning. Most clients want to know they can afford the aged care facility chosen, and also protect their wealth for their family. We expect this Report will provide a ‘road map’ and ‘peace of mind’ for clients and their families.
